These performances, given specifically for Matinee Musicale and the Duluth-Superior area give you a sneak peek at the future of classical music: the beguiling cellist Ifetayo Ali-Landing, the mesmerizing ATLYS String Quartet, and the talented pianist Kate Liu. You won’t want to miss these offerings from such delightful and thought-provoking artists.

Plays a rediscovered work by Duluth composer, Ernest Lachmund

American cellist Ifetayo Ali-Landing is quickly establishing herself as one of today’s leading young artists, earning praise for her “charismatic” playing (Chicago Tribune) and being described as a “powerhouse” by Classical MPR. Ali-Landing began her musical studies on violin before switching to cello at age four. She has studied under a host of notable teachers and coaches, been featured with prominent symphony ensembles throughout the U.S. and made numerous radio and television appearances.  Learn more >

Born in Singapore, Kate Liu began playing the piano at age four and moved to the United States when she was eight. She has performed as a soloist and collaborated with prestigious orchestras throughout the world and her debut album of works by Chopin was released on the Fryderyk Chopin Institute label in 2016. An award winning fan favorite, Kate gained international acclaim after winning the Bronze Medal and Best Mazurka Prize at the 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Poland.  Learn more >
